Beyond “I do”

God has specific plans for husbands and wives. It was so important that he gave husbands and wives a role and told us what we are to do and be as husband and wife. Do you think God’s wisdom and encouragement for couples was a “one-and-done” deal once you say, “I do?” No. God’s Word is alive and breathing and it is meant for each and every day of our married lives. His Word requires action, rather than feeling. God encourages community, rather than isolation. He created married couples for unity with one another, as well as to be “one” with the church.

At NorthPointe, we see marriage as a vital part of our community and are committed to strengthening and supporting marriages. Our purpose is to encourage couples while guiding them away from unhealthy habits and toward a deeper understanding of God’s purpose and plan for marriage. Our mission is for couples to become fully-developing followers of Jesus Christ at every stage of life in their relationship- Dating, Engaged, Married (two months or 62 years or in a blended family).

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This mystery is profound, but I am talking about Christ and the church. To sum up, each one of you is to love his wife as himself, and the wife is to respect her husband.

Ephesians 5:31-33

We offer a variety of events and couples’ studies throughout the year that are committed to inspiring couples to grow closer together and closer to God. Whether it’s at our Married Couples’ Conference, Marriage Retreat, one of our fun Game Nights, or a dessert get-together, you’ll meet other couples who want the same thing as you: to see their marriage succeed and be as God-honoring and fulfilling as He intends it to be.
